I'm inclined to look at anything that happens to us as a light beam that strikes a glass variant. The thing that happens can take any form. It can be an appreciation, instruction, advice or anything that you can imagine of. If I take the form of a plain mirror, the whole thing reflects off. Whatever happens to me is gone. I do not get anything of it. If I do not derive anything, why should I take it in the first place? Do I make sense here? We're all born, live and die to get something and give something. I might sound transactional. However, this is the reality, perhaps stark, at times.
When do I play mirror? When some one yells at me and she (uh! adds colour! isn't it?) has little reason to be so intense on me. I just get to pick up the intensity and yell back at her. What do we both get of it? Now, she smiles at me instead. I do smile with the same intensity. Remember, I'm still playing mirror. The transaction ends there. We've got to start from scratch for the next transaction.
Think of me taking the form of a prism. The light had travelled through air so far. Now it enters a denser medium. Also, the surface is not at right angles to the light beam. And the light beam starts obeying Snell's law. Neither does the light beam reflect back, nor does it have an effect on the prism. The light gets refracted to some other direction. When she yells at me and I have no privilege (or courage, for that matter) to yell back at her and I have no answers, I'm forced to yell at someone else. How does this benefit her? She gets to be content with how I've reacted. She doesn't know which direction I'm refracting unless she goes around me. As long as she prefers to remain there, she has no clue of where I've refracted. When she smiles at me and I have no plan(or courage, again:)) to smile back at her, she can, at the most, be content with what she has done to me, but not with what I've done to her.
Now that, we know what it takes to playing mirror and playing prism, we're compelled to look at the other option.A Kaleidoscope!! When I take the form of a kaleidoscope, she is very sure that, she's not yelling or smiling at a mirror. But, she is not as well sure that I'm playing prism or kaleidoscope. Anything that happens to me deserves to see its effects on me. Going by this, she gets to go around me to see the aftermath of the yell or the outcome of the smile. When she sees a light beam of the same intensity directed at someone else, she gets dejected. Be it a yell or a smile, she wants it back for herself. Very true. Very natural.
A Kaleidoscope is a tube of mirrors set at angles so as to give a symmetric reflection. Any arbitrary pattern set on the Kaleidoscope shows up as a beautiful symmetric pattern. You yell at me or smile at me, all you get to see is a good thing. We all love symmetries. More to it, we love displaying it to others. So, why not try playing Kaleidoscope?

You touched the inner most layer of my heart, keep in touch
ReplyDeleteI think it’s better to play like Periscope where your thoughts take right angle direction always and form beautiful known symmetric patterns and also you have both the options of seeing bad / good. And at the same time you are not visible or known to anyone directly, in a way it will solve the problem of facing each other directly
