Why do I blog?

Last December, we played Chris Pal in the workplace. One of the participants asked his pal to list down three things she hated about my blog. She came out with some down-to-earth opinions. I've listed them down with few changes in formatting.

Three things I hate about Anand's blog:
  1. Frequency is bad
  2. Preposterous assumption that his blogs are the best. (He had the guts to comment that those who did not read his blog "Do not know English"...)
  3. On reading his blogs even his pals feel that, "He considers himself New Age Shakespeare" but the fact of the matter is people who actually read his blogs shake their head in despair...
  4. Always hoping that his "lady love" will one day read his blog and Fall(????!!!) for him... (Is this y people say "Fall in love" and not "Raise in love")

I do not plan to answer each of the comments separately. Though these were meant to be funny and bland (again in her own words), the comments made me do some introspection. Why do I blog? There is some truth in all her comments. One reason that comes to my mind prima facie is, I read a lot: novels, news, blogs. I visualize a lot: the effect of movies and music.

Still, I can't find definite reasons. I'm not a silver-tongued speaker. I'm mostly self-absorbed. Yes. I'm narcissistic. That doesn't mean I underrate my peers. I've always been intriguing to others. May be, I wanted to shed that tag. To make matters worse, I feel people are more intrigued after reading my posts. Nonetheless, I've discovered a writer in me. Period. I don't claim myself to be a great writer. I'm just expressing my thoughts in written words, which most people usually don't. I can't help people who think, I'm a crook. What do you think? Everything written should be like a Jeffrey Archer novel? I'm a beginner and will always remain a beginner. And I'll continue to propagate that I blog. You people ought to live with it.

  1. I dont want to comment on this blog...

But when i looked into the dictionary meaning of narcissistic the below is given (verbatim):
A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation, lack of empathy, and unconscious deficits in self-esteem.

I forgot to say that there were 3 others but is this the closest meaning in our context?! :)

  3. Narcissus is the root word of narcissistic.
In Greek mythology, Narcissus is a beautiful young man who pined away in love for his own image in a pool of water and was transformed into the flower that bears his name.
