Nostalgia Series I

Often do I wonder how people dare call themselves self-made. It is the circumstances under which one grows up, the kind of people surrounded with, that make you complete.

I'd always hated the laboratory practicals in school and college. I never understood any concept in theory. How can you expect me to implement in practice? I was always short of teachers who put things in a lucid language. Teachers have always tried to complicate things for me. Of course, if it was hard for them to understand, it should be hard for us to understand as well. You can't take them for granted. And no one told me to put in your own efforts to understand things. I always ended up studying during the study holidays. I would answer questions only from topics which I understood. No wonder, most of the time, I saved paper for the country.

This post, is not actually meant to play blame-games. This is for me to remember how friends chipped in to help me finish the inevitable. Since I loathed labs, I did not feel compelled to finish the record books either. It was always one or some of my friends who did most of the work.

I am horrible in drawing. Once I failed to complete my zoology record or failed in a zoology test. I don't remember for sure. The teacher gave me an imposition to draw the cockroach thirty times. Four of my friends: Arun, Nadesh, Anguraj and Dharma finished it. The teacher checked the diagrams and took me to the Botany teacher. After serious discussion, they came up with a conclusion: "Four people have helped you finish this. Check for yourself if you will find them for help throughout your life!!". As usual, the advice went to the dustbin.

I was delighted to see my higher secondary record books when my brother dusted them up to use for his rough work. Back in 2000, after the board exams, I had done some post mortem on the record books. See them for yourself.
